Amsterdam and the worst kept secret

Me, my dad and my grandpa took a trip to amsterdam in early March for my dad's birthday and because it's Easter break and I'm in bristol alone, trying to get work done without the distractions of home or friends before my horrible deadline in three weeks, I'm finally writing and posting again.
I missed Amsterdam, I went on a university trip there last year with my sort of foundations friends who I don't really speak to now as it is when you make friends with people on a trip.
Going somewhere for the second time is weird because you sort of know the place and your way around and places you liked and want to visit again and also the places to avoid. But then its still a foreign city that I live in or frequent often.

Amsterdam will always be relaxing to me, I like walking down the streets and along the canals and the odd stitched together houses and feeling centered and peaceful. I was less on edge this time, just with my family who would happily split up and look round galleries and museums and not drag me into tourist shops to buy clog keyrings or pressure me to go out during the night when I couldnt walk.
I took a lot less photos as well, I've been doing that a lot less recently and I've started getting rid of photos a lot more as well, it's therapeutic to rid my phone, which I'm not to proud to admit is an extension of myself, of boring photos someone told me to take or I felt I had to capture or sometimes the exact same image that I convinced myself not to delete as they might show something different.

It's also time to reveal the worst kept secret I've ever held, not because I told everyone but because I told no one and forgot about the secret for three months which is probably worse than letting slip.
Anyway...
Factory Girl is finished!

It was actually finished just after Christmas but I got ill for a while and really struggled with uploading it, then once I'd uploaded it I started seeing every little (and sometimes not so little) flaw with it and tried to delete and re asses the whole thing but I couldn't figure that out and now I'm just going to let it fall out of the nest and see if it lands as I don't really have the time/ability to fix it.
It's also the first edition of a zine from someone who'd never even used indesign before last year or had any experience with making magazines.

I'm planning to continue with a second edition, hopefully coming out sometime around October, which will be about young peoples relation to witchcraft and the supernatural (Halloween spookiness guaranteed) I might keep the name Factory Girl as I kinda fell in love with it

If you're interested in submitting anything hit me up on tumblr or instagram as per, I'm gonna start researching ideas once I finish this last big project for uni so moodboards and inspo should be coming soon.

Turning my heartbeat up

I've been fairly slow on the film front since I've come to uni, I'm not sure what it is but I haven't felt the urge to take so many photos aside from on my phone, wednesday was the first time I'd even used my digital camera since moving. I really dont know why, I just dont think to bring my camera with me on trips like I used to, which is mad considering how beautiful I find the city and how much I love to take photos on nights out.

Over christmas I even forgot to take a camera back with me to document the holiday which I've done for a few years now. I had to buy a little disposable one which was actually a god send as I was far less precious with it and brought it everywhere with me. I got the same rush as I used to getting them developed, mostly because I found a place that develops them for £3 and don't take weeks like some places (sorry boots but +£10 to wait a week to get photos developed?!)

Christmas Eve walking through along the Taff on our way to watch StarWars

Christmas Day and my brother's christmas present to our granma.

Christmas dinner with the fam, while we were waiting for the nut roast/pie thing to finish cooking and had probably drank too much,

My parents decided against buying a real tree this year and put up the two tiny plastic ones that we used to decorate as kids in a display that my mum thought was 'Very Twin Peaks'

Boxing day walk on the beach

Photos from the night I took my bestfriend on her first night out in town.
It was a pretty eventful night of two definitely not yet 18 year old boys tagging along, not being able to find a club that was open, watching a fight break out, helping a girl who'd been punched and left with a bloody nose during the fight, assuring the police that it wasn't her fault, finally reaching the club, getting quite a few free drinks, dancing on stage, getting the bar guy's number and debating politics with strangers in the smoker's area.

Terrible photo of my friends 'family portrait' in bath after seeing the Greyson Perry exhibition so I've stolen a few off my friend's camera roll

Kind of bad photos of my amazing faux fur coat

Random photos I took in Bristol trying to finish the roll

Gowns lovely made out of lace and all the things that you do to your face

We had a scheduled uni trip to London to visit the fabric shops and as usual I didn't really put much thought into focusing on what was going on around me and didn't realise until halfway through the day I should have taken notes and maybe chose fabric samples slightly more strategically than just what I thought was pretty. Me and my friend snuck off a lot, to go shopping or see cool places and so here are the collection of two fashion girls cutting class.

We were told we'd have to research topshop for an upcoming project and I don't exactly rate Topshop so we ran off to Beyond Retro, I bought a jumper that I have so many DIY plans for, and the wonderful world of Monki, see Zoe on the rainbow staircase that reminded me of when  Dorothy first steps into wonderland.

A flower vending machine in the underground station that made me so happy

Once again we ran off, to the Tate this time to try and find some culture and inspiration.

Potato art?

This instillation was made from car bumpers and human hair, which I absaloutly adore and wish they'd asked me first because this literally looks like my shower after I was my hair.
